The following p6 c spaceship with a minimum population of 12 cells. Despite its relatively large size, it is by far the most common naturally occurring spaceship, occurring several times more frequently than the moon. Much of this prevalence can be explained by the fact that an isolated domino will give rise to two free ships. Because of its large spark (a connected pair of donuts) it is useful in a variety of flotillas. Its name is derived from the name of the rule because it is so common. The short free ship, which is much less common, is identical except that its nose is shifted back one cell. In terms of minimum population, the two are tied as the smallest known p6 spaceship, but the short free ship has a smaller bounding box.
